The New Hidden Handroll Bar in Fulton River District

Noriko Handroll Bar is a new addition to the rapidly growing food scene in Fulton Market/Fulton River District. Noriko is located under the restaurant Perilla, on the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Kinzie Street. It was a little bit of a guessing game on how to access Noriko, but we learned that you have to enter in through the main door of Perilla. The ambiance of Noriko is perfect for a date night. The handroll bar has limited seating, dim lighting, and a gorgeous interior. Overall, our experience was great. Here is everything we ordered, what we enjoyed, and what we would pass on next time:

Noriko Handroll Bar | japanese | 401 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL, USA
Noriko is an intimate handroll bar located in the lower level of Michelin recognized Perilla Fare serving fun Japanese food and drinks.

Nori Chips & Dip: our waiter suggested starting with one of the crowd favorites, the Nori Chips & Dip. This appetizer was delicious, and relatively light. It is a edamame hummus with chili crunch and scallions. We loved this and we're inspired to try and make edamame hummus at home.

Chef Handroll Set: We decided to go with the Chef Handroll so we could try a variety of the handrolls. The Chef set came with a Yellowtail, California, Bluefin Tuna Poke, Scallop Dynamite and Bluefin Tuna Toro. I thought the whole set was delicious, with the exception of the Yellowtail. My two favorites were the Scallop Dynamite and the Bluefin Tuna Poke. I didn't think the Yellowtail handroll had a lot of flavor and the nori was pretty soft. The other handrolls had good, crispy nori, which I really enjoyed. I think the set was a great way to go! 5 handrolls doesn't sound like a lot, but they were pretty big, and I was absolutely full by the end of it.
